Black cohosh is a plant-based dietary supplement often marketed for hot flashes and other menopausal symptoms. According to the NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, study results on its effectiveness have been mixed.

As a supplement it is not regulated like an approved drug, so it is worth discussing with a clinician, particularly regarding liver health and interactions.
