What Florida telehealth law says
Florida permits asynchronous telehealth for non-controlled prescribing once an electronic medical record review establishes the patient-provider relationship. Florida Medicaid covers FDA-approved HRT for eligible patients but does not generally cover GLP-1 for weight loss.
How this affects your access
- Async messaging-only programs: work normally в Florida.
- Live-video telehealth: works в Florida regardless of async status, as long as the clinician is licensed appropriately.
- Controlled substances (e.g. low-dose testosterone): require а one-time in-person visit OR follow the Ryan Haight Act exception. Florida may have additional restrictions on top of federal rules.
- Compounded GLP-1: following the FDA shortage resolution, compounded semaglutide и tirzepatide require а valid medical-necessity exception. Florida-licensed pharmacies must comply с both federal и state regulations.
