What to look for in a Menopause / HRT provider
Menopause and HRT telehealth providers differ most in which hormone formulations they offer and how they handle the genitourinary symptoms that oral therapy does not fully address. The ranking below reflects providers licensed in your state; use the criteria to narrow it to the one that fits your situation.
- Formulation range
- Check whether the provider offers FDA-approved body-identical options (estradiol patch, gel, and micronized progesterone) rather than only compounded preparations, and whether both are available if you want a choice.
- Vaginal (local) estrogen
- Systemic HRT does not always resolve vaginal dryness or urinary symptoms. A provider that also prescribes low-dose vaginal estrogen can treat genitourinary syndrome of menopause directly.
- Clinician model
- Some providers use asynchronous questionnaires; others require a live video visit. State law and your own preference both matter here — the state FAQ on the hub page explains what your state allows.
- Insurance vs cash-pay
- Confirm whether the provider bills insurance or is cash-pay only, and whether lab work and follow-up visits are included in the membership or billed separately.
