Persistent or recurrent genital pain associated with sexual intercourse.

Also known as: painful intercourse

Dyspareunia is pain during or after intercourse. In midlife it is often linked to vaginal dryness and thinning tissue from low estrogen (genitourinary syndrome of menopause).

Because there are many possible causes, evaluation by a clinician helps identify the reason and appropriate options.
