Treatment options
CBT-i (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia) is the first-line evidence-based treatment. Hormone therapy improves sleep for women whose insomnia is hot-flash-driven. Micronized progesterone (Prometrium) at bedtime is sometimes prescribed for its sedative effect.
