A widely used framework diagnosing PCOS when two of three defining features are present.

Also known as: Rotterdam consensus

The Rotterdam criteria diagnose PCOS when at least two of three features are present: irregular or absent ovulation, signs of excess androgens, and polycystic ovaries on ultrasound.

Because two of three features suffice, PCOS presentations vary, and other conditions that mimic it must first be excluded by a clinician.
