Micronized progesterone (Prometrium) is bioidentical progesterone used in menopausal hormone therapy to protect the endometrium when estrogen is taken by women with a uterus. Taken orally, usually at bedtime for its sedative effect. NAMS-preferred over synthetic progestins due to a more favorable breast and cardiovascular profile.
